Games Workshop Doesn't Like Competition

PRESS RELEASE
GAMES WORKSHOP BRINGS COUNTERFEITER TO JUSTICE

NOTTINGHAM, UK (12 February 2007) - Games Workshop Group PLC, manufacturer of the famous Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 wargames, has successfully brought a counterfeiter to justice.

Games Workshop dedicates considerable resources to protect its customers from deception and its business assets from infringement. Games Workshop recently concluded a lawsuit against Mr. Brian Beal, operating under the pseudonym ìMac Ace,î from selling forged figures through an ebay account.

After preliminarily enjoining Mr. Beal, ordering sanctions against him, and then issuing a permanent injunction, the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri placed the finishing touch on this lawsuit by slapping Mr. Beal with an award of damages and attorneys fees. The award sends a strong message to those who, like Mr. Beal, believe duping consumers is an acceptable business practice.
ìIt is incredibly important to Games Workshop that the purity of the hobby and the quality of our products is preserved.î Said Andy Jones, Games Workshopís Head of Legal. ìWhen counterfeiters produce and sell fake miniatures, loyal hobbyists suffer. This decision vindicates our efforts to protect our intellectual property, preserve the hard-earned reputation of our product category-leading models, and safeguard the interests of our hobby and the fans who make it great.î

Games Workshop is a publicly traded company and the global market leader in tabletop hobby wargames
